Report: Membership: We now have class representatives for all grades as follows: Senior Class – Chris Goodyear (goodyears@comcast.net) Junior Class – Cameron Esemplare (hajoese@yahoo.com) Sophomore Class – Barbara Kaplan (barbkaplan@comcast.net)
Freshman Class – Sue DiSalvo (lvsdisalvo@yahoo.com) It was clarified that the membership dues for incoming freshmen would be $70.00 to cover the $45.00 membership fee and to include the cost of the required Game Day polo shirt which is $25.00. Sophomores, juniors and seniors will pay the $45.00 membership fee with the option to buy additional polo shirts at $25.00 each. (The Game Day dress code was discussed at the meeting held by Coach Ferreri for incoming freshmen and their parents.) Treasurer’s
Report: Committee
Reports: Calendar: There is no update on the status of the calendar. Chris Goodyear will reach out to the girls’ team to see where they are regarding the calendar. Concession: If we have a night soccer game, we will have a concession stand. A food-handlers license is not required for already prepared food. Banquet:
The banquet is set for Car Wash:
The date for the car wash is Clothing:
There is a clothing order form available on the website.
Clothing orders received by Pat Guarini by Photography: Again an emphasis was made on the importance of taking plenty of pictures early in the season. Old Business: Night Game - Chris Goodyear will consult with Coach Ferreri about the possibility of a night game (or games) being played on town soccer fields and the proper procedures that would need to be followed for such approval. Also, there is a question as to whether we should charge admission in the event we do have a night soccer game. It was decided to table the discussion on admission charges until next month. Videotaping Games – The question was raised regarding whether we would be willing to compensate someone for the service of videotaping games for us. The answer is that we would be willing to do this. Connie Stoll will talk with Coach Rossi to see how the wrestling team handled this. New Business: Fund Raising - The suggestion was made of putting together a season program in place of the calendar that we currently do. This idea was tabled for future discussion since the calendar is already in the works for this year. This would be something to consider for future years. Summer League - It was suggested that the Denville Summer League would be a good choice. We need to consult with Coach Ferreri about this possibility. Captains’ Practices - Captains’ practices cannot be held at the High School for insurance reasons. These practices would be carried out in an informal pick-up game fashion. They would occur after the summer camp and before the start of the season. Harrington was suggested as the best field to use for these practices. We would need to get the word out to everyone. Dues - A question was raised as to whether membership dues are to be paid to both clubs if you have a son and a daughter both playing soccer. The answer is that dues are paid for each child playing. Future Meetings – We agree that
having meetings over the summer is a good idea.
However, the High School is not available to us during the summer months.
Two locations were suggested—the Washington Township Library and the Andy Pytlar motioned to adjourn.
Suzanne Goodyear seconded the motion. The meeting was adjourned at New Uniforms: The cost budgeted for new uniforms was $3,500. The actual cost for the new uniforms was $2,700. Fundraising: There will be no calendar this year. We should consider the idea of a “soccer program” in the future. We should consider doing a “Restaurant Night” as we did last year, where the club is given a percentage of the receipts of a participating restaurant on a specific night. A 50:50 raffle is an idea for a fundraiser at night games. We need to find out if we need a permit to do this. We will check with Maria Summereau about this. Membership: It was decided to raise membership dues to $50.00 per player. The dues for incoming freshmen will be $75.00 to include the cost of the Game Day polo shirt. (Raising the dues covers the cost of the loss of the calendar.) Committee
Reports: Membership Packets: Chris Goodyear and Connie Stoll are getting together to organize material and information regarding membership, picnic, etc., to get the summer mailing out. Picnic: We are exploring the feasibility of catering the picnic this year vs. cooking hot dogs and hamburgers. (We would like to avoid having to have several people standing outside the cafeteria cooking in the possibility of bad weather like last year, when they had a hard time getting the food to cook evenly in the wind and rain). We are checking with local restaurants on the cost of doing this. Old Business: Night Game: If there is a night game, it will be held at the school. Using township fields does not make sense from a practical standpoint. Videotaping Games:
Coach Ferreri is contacting
someone in the Summer League: This needs to be followed up on. Since we are approaching late July, maybe the possibility of a tournament is something to consider. New Business: Sub Sandwiches: The suggestion was made to consider purchasing sub sandwiches for the boys to eat on the bus on the nights they have away games. (Some of the other sports teams already do this.) We need to check into the cost of sub sandwiches, how many we would need to order, selections, etc., as well as delivery of the sandwiches to the busses on away-game days. The next Parents’ Club meeting will be held on |
